I went to visit three Ugandan sisters in Virginia, having befriended them at the Clinical Center (National Institutes of Health) a few weeks earlier. On the journey back, I felt rushed to get back to DC as I had work the next day and trains ran twice a day. I nearly gave up but to my surprise I turned up with an hour to go. That hour, I contemplated the Ugandan sisters, health, friendship, work, time and distance. The speed of our lives, captured in this image of a neighboring sleepy head as the trees go whooshing by.
Location: Amtrak train to Union Station, DC from Virginia.
