The Himalayan blue-tailed magpie is an elusive bird; while they are easy to spot, with their distinct plumage and color, they are extremely camera shy. I was hiking on the trail to Valley of Flowers in Himalayas, at 13,000 ft, when this bird came up and sat on this branch right in front of me. I positioned my camera (Nikon D90) ever so gently, not to let this one fly away - it even turned and looked straight at me!! That is when I clicked - then it flew away!
