Leaping Dolphin

Category: Nature

Photo and caption by Phil Muller

This lone dolphin found its way into St Georges Basin, and stayed for around 6 weeks. It is an extremely rare event to find dolphins here, and this photo was taken 12-14klms from the ocean. Over several weeks, this little fellow became very inquisitive of me in my kayak , until he got cheeky enough to ride the bow wake. I tried for weeks to get a great photo of the dolphin leaping out of the water, (which in itself was an infrequent event) but I was ecstatic and surprised to capture it at such close range.

Location: St Georges Basin, NSW Australia
