'Leaps end!' - turn around, it's too far down for the nerves!

The Painted Reed Frog (Hyperolius marmoratus) is a shy but fairly widespread little frog of Southern Africa, hiding between the reeds at lakes edges. This very small little frog is not even 1cm in height and almost 2cm in length. It was my first close encounter with any kind of reed frog and we were all in awe of it's magnificent colors and detail on such a tiny amphibian - (lol) no wonder we missed it before! Photo taken while camping in January 2011 Equipment: Nikon D90 with a Nikon AF-S 18-105mm lense

Location: Blydepoort Lake, Blyde River canyon, South Africa
