Great Grey Day

I am not a nature photographer. I am a career portrait photographer and have worked on location throughout my thirty year career. This incredible portrait shoot happened thanks to my neighbour's observation that the Great Grey Owls had come south. She loaded me into her limo of a car and took me to where she had spotted one. Near a lovely old barn along the shores of lake Simcoe was a huge leafless tree and a very large owl on one of the branches. I quietly got out, walked up, whispered smile, it didn't, I think, took several photos and got back into the car. My version of nature photography.

Location: Lagoon City, Lake Simcoe, Ontario Canada
