George, the Red Tailed Hawk

This photo was taken 20 min south of Seattle,WA directly off of Interstate 5. The subject is a proud Red Tailed Hawk that had been Injured by contacting an exposed power line. Even while suffering his wounds his gaze pierces the soul and demands respect. After being directed by animal control, George was gently gathered and brought to a local volunteer veterinary clinic. There he was observed and treated for the next 3 weeks. On November 7, 2012 the assessment was made that his injuries were too severe, infection spreading too rapid and euthanasia was the only option. RIP George
