Elephants take a long time to learn how to use their trunk- ultimately it will have the deftness of a human hand - similarly it can be weapon, a tool, and an incredible organ enormous power. At this moment- this little one- just a week old was trying to learn how to use hers by watching and copying the actions of her mother. I was privileged to be witness to her birth - and I want all the world to know how very special she is - an individual- ambassador for species. Elephas maximus
