A Warrior Returns to Life

As we toured the excavation of Pit 2 in Xi’an, China, among the thousands of grimly determined rather grey terracotta warriors arrayed in formation to guard the tomb of China's first emperor, we came across this individual who seems to have suddenly sprung to life, the color returning to his cheeks after 2000 years buried underground. He seemed to have just found the answer to some profound question that had been puzzling him all these centuries while on eternal guard duty and was about to turn his head and tell us something.

Location: Qin Terracotta Warrior Museum, Xi'an, Shaanxi, China
