Snow-Blown Elk

The elk herds had descended from the higher elevations for the fall rut as one of the first snow storms of the season moved into the Rockies. The herd was grazing as temps dipped into the 30's with a steady 20+ mph wind pushed the snow and sleet horizontally. The cows were peering past the large bull elk towards two junior males who were grazing a short distance away as he kept a watchful eye over his herd and keep the competition at bay.
