At 24,034 feet, Mt Jomolhari is the second highest peak in Bhutan and straddles the borders of Tibet and Bhutan. It is believed to harbor the five protector goddesses of both countries and there are various significant spiritual gathering spots near its foot on the Bhutanese side. Is is said that the ruler who lived at Jangotang camp in the castle ruin in the foreground of this picture, instructed the locals to break down the surrounding mountains so he could have a view. In response, the locals got rid of him and his castle sits in ruins at the foot of sacred Jhomalhari.
