Angry Volcano

Anak Krakatau is a young and active volcano born after the catastrophic eruption of Krakatau in the 19th century. When I first saw the island I knew that I want to go to the top in spite of its increased activity and very difficult climbing. But all the hardships were forgotten when I sat down and looked over the rim of the crater: the gates to hell seemed to open just 40 meters below me. It was an unforgettable experience to be so close to the forces of nature.
Location: Anak Krakatau, Indonesia
