Leafy seadragons (Phycodurus eques) are one of two species of seadragon found in Australia's southern waters - the other being the weedy seadragon - and are endemic to these waters only. Related to seahorses but closer to pipefish, these beautiful creatures are incredibly well camouflaged. To me, as a marine biologist, they are as iconic as the kangaroo or the platypus - and are just as strangely wonderful!
