Competition is keen in a nesting colony of Black Skimmers so this hatchling didn't want to let go of its morning meal. Nevertheless, the adult insisted on maintaining possession of the fish long enough to reposition breakfast so that the chick could eventually swallow it head first. This drama took place on a beach in west central Florida.
