The willet (foreground) had just stolen a fiddler crab claw from the long-billed curlew and the curlew was striking back at the willet with his lance-like bill. The opportunistic willet waited for the claw to be jettisoned by the crab. Once that happened, the curlew chased down the crab, rendering the claw fair game.
