Juvenile three-toed sloth

A juvenile brown-throated three-toed sloth (Bradypus variegatus) is examined as part of a project investigating the ecological impact of intensive agriculture on Costa Rican wildlife. This little male was returned to his tree shortly after this photo was taken and climbed back into the canopy within a few minutes of release.

Location: Limon Province, Costa Rica
