This young Guatemalan black howler monkey (Alouatta pigra), currently considered to be endangered due to habitat loss, hunting and capture for the pet trade, couldn't help sneaking a quick look at us through the leaves - behind which he had been carefully hidden by his cautious mother - as we admired the rest of his group at the ancient Mayan site of Xunantunich in Belize.
