A Moment at the Edge

I watched this bird wade at the lake's edge for several minutes, wondering what it was thinking - perhaps a Szymborska verse, a lost love, or perhaps its own mortality. It's always fun to anthropomorphize animals, but the thoughts and personalities we assign, much like reading another's interpretation of a Rorschach inkblot, are usually our own. And so, left feeling a bit silly, we take a picture to remind us of our own absurdity.
