Lunch with the Admiral

This photo of a Great Crested Flycatcher and Red Admiral was taken after several days of trying to locate the nest during construction and approximately 20 hours in a blind after the nest was located and feeding was well underway. The nest was 10 feet off the ground in a snag in deep cover under a heavily forested canopy. Direct sunlight was available for about 45 minutes in a few locations near the nest but only during the late morning. The sun was just breaking through some cloud cover when the flycatcher arrived with the Admiral. The nest is about 15 feet to the left of the flycatcher.
