This was my third year observing black skimmer nesting colonies. I had noticed hatchlings nimbling at the beaks of adults, but it wasn't until I looked at this particular image on a monitor that I came to appreciate the amazing ability of the adult skimmer to capture such tiny fish for their newly hatched nestlings.
