The male kingfisher(left) was courtship-feeding the female. During the courtship period, the male often offers food to the female in order to enhance the pairing-relationship. I took this photo in a shelter on the bank of a pond near Tainan wildlife refuge , Taiwan. I have spent countless hours photographing the birds—particularly common kingfishers.
