Black Tern

The Black Terns had just arrived in the marsh at Point Peele National Park, Leamington, Ontario, Canada and we were there on the boardwalk to watch them start setting up their nests and watching the males make fish offerings to the females. After offering a fish, one male landed near his nest and started preening. This almost abstract photo is the result of that moment, that split second, when everything comes together. It was an overcast but bright day, and as I shoot only with available light, I couldn't have asked for better lighting.
