This photograph was taken on an evening boat cruise near Gunn's Camp in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. The rainy season was just starting and thunderstorms were gathering. As the boat approached the heron took off over the reeds, with the setting sun highlighting it against the dark approaching storm.
