Melting Pot

On the southern coast of Big Island, Hawaii near Kalapana hot lava is flowing into the ocean. I arrived in the afternoon and stood there for hours until it was getting dark. During daylight lava and water were clear to see but as it became darker there seem to be no more differences. The water and the steam were as dark as the cold earth and only hot red and yellow spots of active lava are visible in this big melting pot in the night.
