This picture is taken in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea. Lively Rabaul was also known as the lovely garden city of the Pacific with the holiday resorts, busy airport and prosper deep-sea harbor activities until a series of volcano eruptions (latest in 2006) destroyed it largely. Though leaving miraculously the population unharmed. Lava and several meters ashes covered the town, its buildings and the infrastructure thus creating barren landscapes of hundreds shades of grey. This image taken from the spot where the airport used to be located before the natural disaster.
