Kuna Woman, Panama

Category: People

Photo and caption by Hilda Navarro

This is a kuna woman sewing a mola; Molas are a fabric art form with traditionally geometric designs, while more current ones often represent animals and plants. Molas are made by the Kuna women of north eastern Panama, in an area known as the San Blas Province but now officially referred to as the Kuna Yala. This picture was taken in Casco Viejo, Panama where several stands selling molas can be found.

Location: Panama City, Casco Viejo, Panama
