This was quite an incredible moment and series of events...the pride of lions had successfully caught and brought down a buffalo when the animal's herd came to rescue her. They managed to chase off the lions and in this photo you can see the last of the lionesses making a hasty exit. Unfortunately for the buffalo the herd came too late but they did comfort her in her last moments which was very sad and poignant to see. Sometime afterwards the buffalo moved away and the lions returned to their feast.
