Ice of a Distant Star

Category: Nature

Photo and caption by Christopher Merkley

The cold came on quickly and the ice crystals began forming. Like watching a map form a myriad of tiny rivers across terra incognita, the ice spread across the windows of my back porch, the light dancing in their delicate structure. I put up something behind to block the light behind a bit which gave it the dark and the glow aspects. I love photos that you don't quite know what they are at first, but react to them as if they were abstract art. The colour, the shapes, the light, the composition. Nature is an unparalleled artist.
