According to comments in Wikipedia, "The hippopotamus is one of the most aggressive creatures in the world and is often regarded as one of the most dangerous animals in Africa, especially when young calves are present" and "Hippos are very aggressive towards humans, whom they commonly attack whether in boats or on land with no apparent provocation." So despite this warning, our boat operator brought us very close to this particular mother, this image captured the pure aggression of a mother protecting her offspring.
