These dolphins belong to the resident population of about 90 that live in Port Phillip Bay. They have recently been identified as a new species, Tursiops australis, genetically different from any other Bottlenose dolphin. They have been given the Aboriginal name Burrunan dolphin, meaning "large sea fish of the porpoise kind" and are found nowhere else in the world.

Location: Port Phillip Bay, Victoria
