Serpent Stone

Granite blocks are carried up from the riverbed, 600 meters below the Tengboche monastery, before being painstakingly hand-worked with hammer and chisel. This small stupa temple is ages old and shows a magnificently stripped stone, folded back and forth in salt and pepper crystals, creating a small sense of the time and pressure that have created the great Himalaya.
Location: Tengboche Monastery, Nepal
