Dance of the Fairy Queen

Photo and caption by Kathy Brown

I choose this photo because it exemplifies how the the ordinary can be full of great beauty, too. While walking the dogs on my acreage, with camera in hand, just in case, we stumbled upon a maypop, or passion flower growing up the fence in a far corner. The plant was once food, and could still be eaten, but most often it is just considered "a weed".I have always thought these blooms were so unusual, exotic, almost alien looking. I never expected to capture such grace, movement and elegance in this quick snapshot, but this is an example to never assume anything!

Location: Western corner of my farm, growing on fenceline, in Summertown, Tn
