A Fight to the Death?

In the space of 15 minutes overlooking a beach on the south-eastern tip of Peninsula Valdez, Argentina, I watched two male elephant seals fight for a harem of females. Following this battle, another male emerged from the sea and saw off the exhausted victor of this encounter. Females and babies scurried for their lives as these giants battled for control. The ultimate damage was bloody. I took various photographs, including this one.
