Marten Licking Its Chops

I was standing on the deck of our Cottage when I heard an unusual chirping sound to my left. I turned to see two martens who were just as surprised to see me as I was to see them. In a nanosecond one turned and disappeared by the side of the cottage, the other climbed a pine tree so quickly I didn't realize he had. I was privileged to have the company of this shy creature for approximately 10 minutes before it jumped from pine tree to pine tree and vanished from sight.
