Lepidostomatic caddisfly larva in case

Order: Trichoptera Family: Lepidostomatidae Genus: Lepidostoma Size: case, 11 mm, larva 7 mm These larvae will often start building their cases with grains of sand then switch to squares of leaves or bark. The case is four-sided. They are in our streams from November through March. They then pupate before hatching as terrestrial insects.
