Flying from London to Hong Kong, one crosses a lot of different and breathtaking landscapes. I took this photograph from the 777 cockpit flying along the famous "Yankee 1" (or "Y1") routing, that leads just north of the Himalayas. Along this airway the terrain gets closer to the aircraft and so called "escape routes" need to be continiously updated in order to resolve an engine failure or decompression scenario. I choose this picture because it nicely depicts the pure and rough landscape and one can just feel the temperature being very cold down there; breathtaking!
