Lechwe on a dry floodplain in the rain

Category: Nature

Photo and caption by Basil Stathoulis

As the winter floodwaters recede in the Okavango Delta the floodplains are left dry and the lechwe are numerous in the grassland. The spectacular panning shots of them running through water are for another season. As the summer rains come they are drenched in the downpours, presenting a frail looking backlit antelope
