Little bee-eater sunning

Category: Nature

Photo and caption by Basil Stathoulis

I spent an hour or two with a pair of bee-eaters. One I captured as he flicked a bee in the air, a classic pose. But his partner flew off and landed between me and the sun. I looked for some backlit moments and then he stretched his wing, revealing a dazzle of feathers and colour.
