This Photo was taken the small Island Nias off the West Coast of northern Sumatra in Western Indonesia. It is located about 90 miles from Sumatra but is one of the few places in Indonesia that is not predominantly Muslim. The majority religion Protestant Christianity. I found this man at a festival for the surf. There were many people dressed in colorful cloths and dancing and singing this man seemed content on just sitting, watching and smoking his cigarette. I asked him if I could take his photo and he did not respond he seems so distant as he does in the photo. There was a culture barrier.
