Waiting to Clean Up

I saw 4 dead elephants during my visit to Chobe National Park in May this year. It was heart-wrenching to see family members appear to mourn their loss. Our guide advised that Anthrax was taking its toll on many of the mammals in the region. The vultures, along with the Marabou Storks and other scavengers, were on hand to swiftly and effectively deal with the clean up. This Lappet Faced Vulture was waiting for an opportune moment to swoop in and claim his place at the feast. Not always an easy task when no one is readily willing to leave.
