Little Big Dune

This image was created while flying in Saline Valley in Death Valley National Park. We started our aerial photo day from Tahoe and made it to the dunes in time for sunset. It's hard to believe but the dunes in this photo are over 600' tall. The scale in the valley is truly awesome and virtually impossible to judge. The valley floor is about 300' above sea level and the peak surrounding are about 12,000'. Mt. Whitney is not far away at over 14,000'. What I like most about this shot is that it's deceiving in size and it plays tricks on your eyes.
