A naked tree stands guard among the scrub palms at Myakka State Forest. The stark sentinel caught my eye on 30 September 2012 during one of my nature walks and a mostly futile search for wildlife to photograph. Sometimes the intriguing subjects don't have fur or feathers, or in this case, even leaves.
