This photo depicts what I found to be the most beautiful cities in all of my travels, San Sebastián. This city is in region of Spain known as the Basque Country, a fiercely independent region complete with its own language and culture. Until recently, Franco's government outlawed the use of the local language, Euskara. Since this era, the culturally express themselves very overtly, especially in the revival of the traditional name of this city, Donostia. I believe that this photo embodies that beauty, from below a statue of christ, in the conch-shaped beach area known as the promenade.
