A pair of painters ascend the stairs at the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. The painters provided an earthly grounding to this highly spiritual site which served as the chief residence of the Dali Lama until the 14th Dali Lama fled to Dharamsala, India, after the Chinese invasion in 1959.
