In a dark stairwell a group of mothers stood chatting, watching their children play outside the school below. The term 'Harijan' is now banned in India, but this community has chosen to keep the sign above the entrance that reads 'Harijan School'. One of these chatting women was so striking I tried to capture her natural beauty and serenity. Natural light portrait with no flash.
