Vimba bream in Venta river

Spring migration of Vimba bream (Vimba vimba). Fish from the Baltic Sea comes in to the Latvian rivers to go to the spawning grounds upstream. This trip can be several hundred km long and Vimba bream may take tens of km per day. Venta River is one of two Latvian rivers, where the path is free from artificial - man-made - barriers. But here (near the town of Kuldiga) is another barrier - Ventas rumba - the widest waterfall in Europe. It is the best place to watch vimba travel and, of course, the best place for photography.
Location: Venta river, city Kuldiga, Latvia
