While staying in Nungwi in Zanzibar, I observed the fisherman being very active in the bright, sunny mornings and then by midday when the rain clouds appeared and low tide arrived, the nearby sandbars took on an eerie, foreboding presence that spoke of a timeless profession and of isolationism.
