Aerial Lunch #2

These broad-billed hummingbird babies have grown to the point where it's easier for their mother to fill their crops from above than by perching on the side of the nest. Hovering above them, she 's perfectly positioned to share bugs, nectar & pollen with her long beak. These babies are almost ready to fledge; within the next three days, they'll leave their forest of rhaphiolepis leaves and the security of their nest covered with spiderwebs to venture out into life in the desert, where their mother will continue to feed them, perched on branches, till they can fend for themselves.

Location: Tucson, Az USA
