My mother, brother and I went on a road trip from Madison, WI, to Seattle, WA in late December last year, and Kansas city was our first stop. We left Madison in the morning of Christmas and arrived at Kansas City on Christmas night. Despite being the most vibrant part of the city, the Power & Light District was empty, dark and lifeless because everyone went home for Christmas. And though dubbed "Power & Light", the sign did not fully represent it. I was grateful to have spent the Christmas night with my family, even though it was missing the usual something like the district and the sign.
