On the way to the Masai Mara in Kenya we stopped at lake Bogoria for flamingo sighting. Travelers usually go to lake Nakuru, but due to the heavy rains that had fallen the weeks before, the flamingos had left for the shallower lakes. This bird, scientifically called the Lesser Flamingo, feeds on Spirulina, a type of algae living in the alkaline water. The algae is the source for the pinkish color of the Flamingo.
Location: Lake Bogoria, Kenya
