Filipino grade school students on an inflated tire cross the swollen river on its way to school in a remote village of Rizal province, Philippines, 12 October 2012. Using inflated rubber tires as rafts, the locals brave the raging currents of the river and walk two kilometers just to reach their community's school and hospital. In the Philippines, poor access to education, especially in rural areas, is a problem, but enrollment rates have still remained relatively high. According to UNICEF, grade school enrollment is high at 85 percent, though only 62 percent finish high school.
